The idea for Begin started on a 2012 May term study abroad to Rwanda.
With the help of an interpreter, Kamala Stalboerger took the opportunity to
purchase two sewing machines in an effort to assist in the financial betterment
of a couple of women in the market place of Musanze. Since that time,
Kamala has been in the planning stages of starting a non-profit organization to
financially gift money to people or individuals who want to start a business or
endeavor in their community in an effort to promote economic sustainability and
financial independence and to empower these people or individuals; and to
educate and collaborate with recipients to identify ways in which they can
strengthen and develop their community as a result of their own prosperity
and creativity; and to provide informative, inspirational events in
communities to lift the spirit of hope and healing beneficial to everyone who
lives there.
